Structural Bodywork

Posted on: Monday, March 13th, 2017

Structural Bodywork it is a complete full body restructuring and balancing program for rehabilitation from acute as well as chronic pain.

As a modality of manual therapy, it focuses on the connective tissue (or fascia) of the body, contacting and adjusting this system, releasing tension and unwinding strain patterns, thereby re-balancing and realigning the body. A holistic and scientifically proven technique, Structural Bodywork is based on deep tissue manipulation and movement education,

Structural assessments aim to identify and unravel the story behind a client’s symptoms, with treatments being proactive rather than reactive, as they actually treat the underlying cause of symptoms rather than the symptoms themselves. As an individual and personal process it not only releases pain, but by exstructural_integration_therapy-brightontending movement and flexibility and restoring physical balance, increases a sense of well-being, leaving clients feeling energised.  In addition, more efficient use of muscles allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more refined and economical patterns of movement. This can result in increased levels of energy and alertness. Feelings of stress can also decrease while your level of relaxation can increase.

Structural Bodywork is a highly effective adjuvant therapy for athletes to improve:
• Range of motion
• Endurance
• Fascial flexibility, mobility and fluidity
• Strength and power

The treatment aims to affect the whole person, emotionally, physically and energetically, by way of altering the  physical structure. Our emotional and behavioural patterns for example, are often related to our physical being. As impediments to balance are removed and the body comes into greater alignment, aspects of the self may also become more aligned. An experience with Structural Bodywork may help release an individual’s potential, promoting positive change, lowering anxiety, improving sleep, increasing confidence, and maturing emotional expression.

Structural Bodywork is proven to be effective in a wide range of health conditions including:

  • Postural imbalances including excessive Kyphosis, Lordosis and Scoliosis
  • Headaches and/or migrainesstructural+bodywork
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Pelvic Floor Disorders
